Chamber plays a significant role in improving the City’s Strategic Plan 2010-2015

The Council has approved a new Strategic Plan to guide the City until 2015.  The revised Plan took into account feedback from the public as well as submissions from key stakeholders.

It is encouraging to see that many of the Chamber’s recommendations have been incorporated into the revised Plan. The Council’s initiative and determination is a good outcome for the community.

Regarding the Chamber’s submission, the City states that they,

‘…generally accept the Chambers comments and some of the specific suggestions have been incorporated into the recommendations for the final plan.’

The City has adopted several Chamber proposals, such as:
•    development of a business plan for the establishment of a new visitors centre;
•    refocusing community safety initiatives from a ‘perceived’ to a ‘real’ safety;
•    agreeing that the Strategic Plan’s imperatives should be prioritised with economic development at the forefront; and
•    introducing specific language to ensure the Plan is focused on implementation.

The revised Strategic Plan represents a concise and deliverable document that provides Fremantle with clear and achievable objectives over the next 5 years. The delivery of the Plan will bring significant improvements to the economic capacity of Fremantle with additional benefits for tourism, urban growth and renewal, and community safety.
