Meet the Board

Our Board members are the driving force behind the Chamber. They are focused on delivering realistic objectives to propel Fremantle forward. They all bring professionalism and a wealth of business experience to the Chamber and all commit their time and energy to ensuring growth and prosperity for the local business community. 

The Fremantle Chamber of Commerce has a strong, involved, informed membership whose needs in representation and business will be met by a professional staff and committed Board.

The objectives of the Chamber are:

  • To effectively represent the commercial, industrial and professional community of Fremantle and promote the City's economic, cultural and environmental development.
  • To take an active part in all matters affecting the City and State with the view of improving, promoting and protecting Fremantle business.
  • To establish harmony with government, business and community groups.
  • To assist in the promoting of international trade through exports and keep members informed of trade opportunities.
  • To keep members informed of matter affecting trade, commerce and industry and give comprehensive service according to their requirements.

Ivan has been immersed in Fremantle's hospitality industry for 20 years, and at the helm of Benny's Bar & Cafe for more than 15. A member of the Chamber Board since 2012, Ivan has led the Chamber's Tourism Committee for 18 months and is looking foward to leading the Chamber to expand, reach and build unity in the representation of sectors.

Franco has twenty years specialist experience in urban planning, city revitalisation, place management, project management, development and implementation of City Visions.

He currently holds the position of Manager Fremantle Waterfront Development with Fremantle Ports and is working on planning precincts to revitalise the VQ Waterfront.

Lee Bartlett ACA CA
Treasurer

Lee is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) and member of the Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand. He is Chief Financial Officer and Director of TAMS Group, a diverse national marine services business based out of Fremantle. Prior to joining TAMS Group 5 years ago, Lee was an external auditor for BDO LLP, specialising in owner managed businesses and large motor dealerships. Lee has been recently appointed as Company Secretary for the Fremantle Foundation, a Fremantle based not-for-profit whose central role is to encourage philanthropic giving.

Natasha Atkinson
Board Member

Natasha’s career accomplishments within the Australian hospitality, tourism and retail industries over the last two decades has established her as an influential and productive leader. Natasha was recently awarded a Business News 40under40 Award in recognition of her contribution to Western Australian business.

Originally a farm girl from Merredin, at the age of 24 she started her own business; the first independent café (Café Moka) in the Mandurah Ocean Marina.  Following a career stint with the Adelaide Central Markets, Natasha returned to Perth. She was instrumental in the establishment of the first farmer’s market in Perth - Mt Claremont Farmers Market, which became the model for farmer’s markets in the region and the incubator for a flourishing weekend institution throughout Perth.  Currently the CEO of the Fremantle Markets, Natasha has led this iconic tourist site into a thriving business giving it a complete operational overhaul.  With a renewed focus on prioritising high-quality, locally sourced goods and services the Markets has experienced a renaissance during tough economic times, culminating in winning the 2013, 2014 and 2015 Fremantle Business Awards for Tourism Excellence, and being honoured as the 2017 Hall of Fame recipient.

In 2018 Natasha was elected a Councillor for the Royal Agricultural Society of WA where she hopes she can combine her experience in tourism and retail to increase the profile of RASWA and establish the foundations for continued success into the future.  As a farm girl, Natasha is also passionate about the country and a supporter of all the great work Rural Ambassador’s do for regional Western Australians. 

Board Member Nathan Maxwell-McGinn

Nathan Maxwell-McGinn comes to the board with over a decades experience in international trade, marketing, business and brand development. Having worked within a range of industries and companies from Norway to China he is now a proud business owner exporting high end Australian seafood into Asia.

He is the chair of the Seafood Trade Advisory Group, a group that has developed key Government relationships in Canberra to provide advice on Free Trade Agreements and Trade and Market access issues.

Nathan is an advocate for all things Fremantle and its role in Western Australia.

Marc Greco
Board Member

Marc has over 30 years experience in managing major projects and has been a member of the Infrastructure and Development committee at the Chamber (for two years). He holds an MBA and has attained Chartered Engineer Status with the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET). Marc is a Director at Engineering Consultants Australia, bringing technology to infrastructure and building projects.
Having worked in Argentina, the UK, the US, Spain, Thailand, and Antarctica, Marc now runs an engineering firm based in Fremantle. Marc has worked with startups and professional services companies in Fremantle to assist them to achieve economic growth. Fremantle is seeing a number of new projects, redevelopments and the Chamber has a track record in supporting infrastructure and projects, extending from the CBD to the greater Fremantle areas.

Board Member

Sarah is passionate about promoting Fremantle and Western Australia and believes ‘Freo’ is the best destination for both business events and leisure guests.  Sarah has over 15 years’ experience in the Events and Hospitality industry, after completing a Diploma of Event Management in 2004 she commenced her career at the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle. Since then, Sarah has worked in a variety of Event Management and Business Development roles in both Western Australia and Victoria, in 2013 she returned to Fremantle and is currently the Director of Sales at The Esplanade Hotel Fremantle by Rydges.
